Look! A sustainable alternative to aluminum foil and plastic! This is Bee's wrap and it is made of organic cotton muslin, beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin. The warmth from your hands makes it flexible and when it cools it holds its seal. After you're done, just wash and reuse. I'm not the one in charge of buying the aluminum foil and plastic in our house, but I'm guessing this will save us some money!

"Linen is like life, versatile and beautiful if you tend it well" - Ingela Berntsson, Designer for Växbo Lin
Linen comes from the flax plant VäxbolinThese lovely make-up bags from Växbolin are made in Sweden and are made in linen. The price is 995 SEK which is roughly £85. Definitely on our wish list!
Organic CottonMy favourite shirt comes from MUJI and is in 100 % Organic Cotton. The model comes i several different colours. A blue and a white hangs in my wardrobe. The hat is from H&M's Denim Conscious collection and is also in 100 % Organic Cotton and I really wish it would come in a grey colour too!
I've started buying basic pieces in sustainable materials to get my wardrobe more timeless and it has actually made me like my wardrobe more now when my clothes are in natural colours and classic shapes. Ugly fruit and vegetables & trainsWe throw away 300 million tons of fruit and vegetables each year. Intermarché, the third largest supermarket in France launched 'Inglorious Fruit & Vegetables' to decrease food waste by selling ugly fruits and vegetables that doesn't have the perfect shape for 30 % cheaper. We like! Please do the same in the UK!?
On Friday we are taking a weekend in lovely Paris and we are taking the Eurostar train. We could have gotten a cheap flight, but taking the train will save us both money and time, and it is environmentally friendly. First of all, we would have needed to get to the airport (we usually take the bus as it is cheaper), and you need to be at the airport a bit before the plane takes off, and then when we would be in Paris, we would have needed to get from the airport to the city centre. Takes time and money! Now we are taking the train from St Pancras station and after 2 hours and 15 minutes we will be at Gare du Nord station in Paris. And if we pass one of Intermarché stores we will definitely get us one of those grotesque apples! Eco-Friendly in the kitchenAfter a short visit to Sweden these three items jumped straight down in the luggage. A kitchen towel in organic cotton, a wooden dish brush and a reusable dishcloth. The dishcloth is machine washable and the price is around £10 but it will save you money buying new dishcloths regularly.
KloraneWhen our normal hair care products ran out we decided to change for natural options without silicon entering into our waters. Using shampoo and conditioner from Klorane for the moment with a lovely smell of pomegranate.
We are trying to reduce the amount of plastic in the kitchen. Plastic, especially when heated, is not really good for you since it releases a lot of toxins. Instead, choose wood, stainless steel, bamboo, glass, cast iron and crockery.
ECO lunch boxesThese dishwasher safe, toxin-free, 100 % stainless steel lunch boxes are on our wish list for Christmas (can you believe it is only 11 weeks left). It can also be the perfect Christmas present for someone! We can only talk for ourselves but we always, always struggle to find that great gift for someone.
Reduce your plastic usage and toxin entering into your food. You can order one here. |
