Diptyque

DiptyqueI've upcycled an empty candle holder to become storage for my make-up and brushes. The Diptyque candles are not only pretty when they contain a candle, they can also be used for various things after. Thumps up for Upcycling!

Crystal DeodorantA crystal deodorant is a natural mineral salt and will kill the bacterias that cause bad odor. You need the crystal or your skin to be a bit damp and then use as a normal deodorant. Just remember to dry the crystal after you've used it and it can last for months.
I decided to buy the travel size as a test round and I also prefer the smaller size when I go to the gym or travel. You can find it at Planet Organic, As Nature Intended and Holland & Barrett (and I'm sure in more places). - Elin Bamboo ToothbrushSo, I have now swapped my toothbrush to one made from bamboo. And the best thing? It's compostable! I'm really happy with my choice of getting a natural toothbrush instead of a plastic one and I feel better knowing that my decision has a little less impact on the environment.
I bought a 4-pack of Brush with Bamboo toothbrushes from here. - Elin Recycle your empty cosmetic packaging!Sometime we feel that we are focusing and getting frustrated with all the things that are not environmentally friendly or sustainable. We sometimes talk about how it drives us mad just thinking about how people consume. Black Friday has to be one of the first days of the year?! People going shopping crazy and they are buying things that they don't really need just because it is cheaper. Saw a YouTube video from the US where a women got arrested because she got in to a fight over a TV. MAD people!
Anyhow, back to where we were going with this. Origins is a great brand to begin with and they have launched a programme where they accept all empty cosmetic and skincare packaging, from any brand! How great is that! And the other day I saw that they have the recycling bins out in the stores here in the UK. Go Origins! For us it is still a quite big step to make our own skincare but we are getting there, slowly slowly. InspirationI'm incredibly inspired by Lauren Singer that writes the blog Trash Is For Tossers. She lives a Zero Waste life in New York. She makes her own skincare and buys her food in bulk in her Mason jars, just as a 'No' to packaging. I'm so inspired and when I think about how much trash we make in our home , it really gets you thinking. Lauren keeps all her trash in a jar on her dresser. How incredible is that?!
I would really like to make a transition into a waste free life. She said in an interview that it took her around a year to go from a life full of trash into a Zero Waste life. Read her blog! Earl grey and LavenderLavender, relaxing and soothing and the HURRAW lip balm with a scent of earl grey. Never really liked scented lip balms. Especially not sweet or fruity scents, so tried to find one with a natural scent.
Essential oil from Neal's Yard HURRAW lip balm from Planet Organic, also seen it at As Nature Intended (probably in more places as well) Look! A sustainable alternative to aluminum foil and plastic! This is Bee's wrap and it is made of organic cotton muslin, beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin. The warmth from your hands makes it flexible and when it cools it holds its seal. After you're done, just wash and reuse. I'm not the one in charge of buying the aluminum foil and plastic in our house, but I'm guessing this will save us some money!
